Hi!  I’m Dr. Gwen Pawlowski.  I graduated Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2007 and spent the following year completing an internship in medicine and surgery at the VCA Aurora & Berwyn locations. I didn’t really know I wanted to be a vet until after college.  I have always liked science and was interested in pursuing human medicine.  After undergrad my first job was as a veterinary assistant at a local vet office.  We had several animals at home at the time and we were asked to go in to get our dog out of the cage after his neuter due to bad behavior!  The rest is history! ​

 

I have so many reasons why I love going on house calls!  The main reason is that it is clear the patients are more comfortable in their home.  I love that it is a more personal setting where I can connect more with my clients and their pets, and we are not rushed.  So often in the clinic setting there is that “hurried” feel.  I also really enjoy being out on the road in between appointments.  It’s great to be able to experience all the towns in the Western Suburbs.   As a doctor I am really passionate about preventative medicine.  It’s great to be able to use my previous experiences and the different tools to be able to try to figure out what is happening with a sick patient.  There is so much personal satisfaction when we can get them to feel better.

 

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Mike, and our two kids, Kate and Jonathan.  Currently we have 3 dogs – a Beagle named Red, a Chihuahua named Chopper, and a Terrier mix named Fannie Mae.  My hobbies include taking a yoga class, traveling, trying new recipes, and puzzles.
