Travel Veterinary Assistant
Sarah
Sarah Salazar Johnson will be celebrating her 15th year with The Welcome Waggin in March 2026, a milestone that reflects her deep commitment to compassionate veterinary care.
Sarah’s love for animals began at a very young age. One of her first jobs as a teenager was working as a kennel assistant, an experience that confirmed her desire to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. She went on to work in traditional brick-and-mortar veterinary clinics, where she was trained as a technician and gained invaluable hands-on experience. Although she explored other career paths and attended college, veterinary medicine always called her back.
Sarah joined The Welcome Waggin after witnessing the powerful impact of compassionate in-home euthanasia an experience that changed her perspective on veterinary medicine. Sarah has been fortunate to care for some patients throughout their entire lives and to witness The Welcome Waggin grow from a single doctor and technician into the comprehensive in-home service it is today, along with the opening of the new hospital. She is so proud and grateful to be part of the journey as Dr. Jeni Waeltz expands the practice allowing the team to serve even more pets with exceptional care.
Outside of work, Sarah enjoys spending time with her husband and family, rehabbing her home, and traveling. She also shares her life with her two beloved rescue pets, Sid and Archie, whom she rescued nine years ago after finding them in a client’s window well when they weighed less than four ounces.
